when you click on template a new page will appear
where you can see your current template screen shoot and
many other templates from those you can select a template for your blog

click on template image which template you like
a new window will appear where you will see a demo of template i mean how it looks when you apply it to your blog.
if you like then click on apply to blog
if not then select an other template
you can also customize this template by clicking customize button.
in customize window you will be able to change background color links color without css knowledge.
